Georges Bizet

Georges Bizet
(1838-1875)

Bizet was a French composer who lived until 36 years of age. Famously known posthumously for his opera Carmen, the composer had little success with his musical works during his lifetime, including those for stage. Bizet did, however, win the coveted Prix de Rome for composition

In addition to two rather sunny symphonies and orchestral suites taken from his operas, a host of solo vocal and solo piano pieces remain his largest output in number.

Since the composer wrote so little in his short lifetime, I won't have much to share recording-wise on this page. However, I will check back every once in a while to see if anything new has surfaced.
