Siegmund von Hausegger

Siegmund von Hausegger
1872-1948

This Austrian composer seems to be better known for his conducting than his output of music. His leading of Bruckner was notable in its time.

Hausegger is represented by only a few recordings, all championed on CPO. His style is representative of late Romanticism, where the music ebbs and flows with not a hint of hurriedness, but often stocked with plenty of power and meandering lyricism.

Most of that music is orchestral, although there was a more recent release of Hausegger's lieder.
