Paul Paray

Paul Paray
1886-1979

Paray comes from a long list of conductor / composers. In his case, Paray was more widely known as a conductor, particularly from his relationship with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and his recordings on Mercury.

He has at least four large boxed sets dedicated to his conducting alone.

I don't know much about his compositional style, as I have only heard a few of his works. Having a French influence should come as no surprise.

Grotto Productions released at least 7 volumes of his music, led by Father Eduard Perrone. They are local performances, so their playing quality is sometimes rough, but what dedication!

Fr. Perrone was suspended for allegations, and so that pretty much stopped these productions. Hopefully someone will pick up where they left off.
