John Alden Carpenter

John Alden Carpenter
1876-1951

A composer from the United States described as an Impressionist (not the Rich Little kind), and notable for his early use of jazz in Classical Music.

I mainly know some orchestral works and the song-cycle Gitanjali, but otherwise Carpenter is nothing but discoveries for me.

He also has quite a bit of solo piano and vocal works. From what I have heard of the composer, those genres would seem right up his alley.

I will add more information as I explore Carpenter's music.
