Albéniz is mainly known as a touring virtuoso pianist, although he has many compositions to his name.
The most famous work in his catalogue is probably Iberia, and the main genre from said catalogue must be solo piano music. Alicia de Larrocha was an ardent champion of the composer at the piano.
Albéniz was an early proponent of using Spanish folk music as a basis for his music, an compositional effort which spread wildly.
Like many composers, much of his music has been transcribed, such as for guitar, or orchestrated.
