1908-1999
Ferguson was an Irish composer and music historian, with a musicological interest in Schubert.
The composer has a relatively small output of compositions, with only 19 Opus numbers to his name, dating between 1928-1959. Ferguson lived another 40 years beyond his last composition.
His most famous work remains the Piano Sonata in F minor, piano being Ferguson's main instrument.
With all of this in mind, I have very few recordings covering the composer's music, who is often described as lyrical and melancholic.
