Granville Bantock
1868-1946
Bantock was a late-Romantic British composer.
I am mainly familiar with the composer through his large-scale orchestral works. The series on Hyperion with Vernon Handley was my introduction to the composer.
I am not enamored with late-Romanticism, and indeed, the initial works of Bantock from the first volume on Hyperion remain his strongest works to my ears.
The composer has some beloved string sonatas, plus Bantock did a fair bit of work with voice and chorus too, so I will cover some of that as well.
I doubt I will explore much beyond the Hyperion series however, but who knows; I may find more recordings of interest out there yet.
