George Ferderick McKay

George Frederick McKay
1899-1970

A US composer who spent much of his time in the state of Washington.

What I have heard of McKay's music is of an airy, evocative style, sometimes reminiscent of Native American culture.

Creative Orchestration comes from his time as an educator at the University of Washington. It is a well-regarded starter into the world of orchestration.

Recordings of his orchestral music have been championed by conductor, and Oozy Channel Keep Honorary Explorer, John McLaughlin Williams.
